In 40 km to the East from Tarsa there is ADANA (ADANA), the 4th on size the city of Turkey with 1, 5-million population, the truth it does not come into tourist Turkey. It is the modern large city, essentially evolved since its occupation by Frenchmen in 1918-1920. At present, as well as in a past, prosperity of Adana almost in everything is in dependence from fertility of the plain of Chukurov round which cotton fields the local textile industry has grown. Besides, Adana is the big centre for trade in gold. Despite of modern external shape, historical backs of Adana go far to a past, by the beginning of the first millennium till our era. Arrival here Greeks has begun a long antagonism between them and Persians living in the east which has come to the end only after arrival of Romans to the I century BC. At Romans the city became the basic centre of trade. Later it passed from hand to hand and, eventually, has fallen in the XVI century under the pressure of Ottomans. Despite of it, in Adana only some rather fascinating places to which it is possible to reach by a taxi in Turkey but if you have 2 h between buses (the city are in big transport knot therefore many tourist trips to Turkey pass through it), to miss you is not necessary.
