Checking lumber for twist
Warped boards can sometimes be tough to recognize, but you can spot twisted stock quickly with the aid of shop-made winding sticks. Cut two narrow boards to a length that is twice the width of the board to be tested. Set the board face down on a work table, then place the winding sticks at both ends, parallel to each other. Sight acroeo the tops of the sticks. Your board is twisted if the tops of the sticks are not perfectly aligned.
