November 12, 2014, 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. — Stenciling and Collage in Handmade Paper: A Workshop with Dieu Donné
This introductory hand-papermaking workshop invites participants to use a range of techniques that draw on the cut-out as the basis for original paper compositions. Led by Amy Jacobs, Studio Collaborator and Education Manager at Dieu Donné, this workshop introduces Matisse’s cut-outs and uses recent work by contemporary artists Jessica Stockholder, Kate Shepherd, Jim Hodges, Polly Apfelbaum, and other artists-in-residence at Dieu Donné as inspiration. Participants experiment with the effects of cut shapes, collage, and stenciling.
Workshop is free, but limited to 25 people. Advance registration is closed. A standby line will form one hour before the start of the program and any open spaces will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
