Bennett plays Bret Harte’s frontier tomboy Salomy Jane, awakening to her sexuality (and Charles Farrell, as the stranger in town) in Raoul Walsh’s zesty, tongue-in-cheek adaptation of a popular 19th-century stage melodrama, partly filmed in California’s redwood forests.
