Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Became Awesome after Winter Soldier
When Joss Whedon took on his latest TV project Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The gist of the show was to show the inner workings of S.H.I.E.L.D., the force behind Iron Man and the Avengers, headed by Agent Phil Coulson—Nick Fury’s right hand man who has made appearances in Thor, Iron Man, and The Avengers. The TV show dealt with inner-agency politics as well as a hero/villain of the week ripped from the comics. Such a great premise. My son and I watched it religiously at first but then the episodes started to pile up on the DVR. Captain America: The Winter Soldier happened. a major curve ball. The agency turned out to have been breached by Hydra, the subversive agency set on world domination, aka, the bad guys. What a blow for Nick Fury (who died, ahem) and Phil Coulson (who also once died, ahem). The agency was disbanded and key members were forced to go underground. I was dying to see how the show would tie-in to the movie. These Marvel franchises exist in the same timeline so everything that happened in The Avengers and Winter Soldier happened in the TV show too. It’s awesome! I started watching the show again in April and it was fantastic. High-ranking members are revealed to be Hydra-loyal. What a hoot! The last 7 episodes build to a fantastic finale that brought a tear to my eye. Great TV! The show has been renewed for a second season and I’m so in. If you gave up or never started–Give it a try. In fact, you may as well hunker down and watch all the movies too. Have fun!
