20 Worlds Breathtaking Infinity Pools
An infinity edge pool (also named negative edge, zero edge, infinity pool, disappearing edge, or vanishing edge pool) is a swimming or reflecting pool that produces a visual effect of water extending to the horizon, vanishing, or extending to infinity (Wikipedia). The illusion effect is most effective when the edge of the pool appears to merge with a larger body of water or with the sky. The color combination would make you believe that they unite with the nature.
Constructing an infinity swimming pool would be expensive and need extensive structural, mechanical, and architectural detailing. No wonder that we could only see infinity pools at exotic resorts, exclusive estates, and other luxurious places. Well, below are twenty infinity pool designs from around the world you should see.
This kind of pool, which was first applied in France, is usually found at a resort or a residential with a landscape view. Its limitless effects would be more dramatic if being applied in the places which are near the sea, hills, cliffs and the other places with a strong element of nature. The altitude of the locations such as cliffs or hills will also be a huge influence on the effect of its infinity edge.
Based on the structure and also the form, infinity pool is different from the regular pool. There is a dam or basin to hold the water spilling from the edge of the pool. Typically, the wall of the pool in which the water flows or the wall of the dam is 15-20 mm lower from the surface of the water, so that the water can be spilled. The water spilled which is accommodated in a tub on the edge will be pumped back into the pool. There are two water circulation systems at the infinity edge swimming pool. The firs system is applied only when the swimming pool is in use. The water in the reservoir will be filtered and pumped back into the pool. Secondly, the system is almost the same as a conventional pool. The water in the reservoir is pumped directly back into the pool without filtered first.
The design of an infinity pool is indeed more costly than the regular pool. It is due to the manufacture of the water reservoir on the side of the pool, the water-proofing on the walls of the dam and in the reservoir, the pump and filter with a high-capacity, and the electronic autofill sensor in the reservoir. Structurally, it also can cost more because the designers have to adjust it to the geological conditions in the swimming pool to be built. However, the visual effect of the dramatic infinity edge can pay it all, especially if we are in a location with beautiful scenery.
Well, is there anything describing luxury like this clear blue water and mesmerizing surface of an infinity pool?
