CONTROL ROOM DESIGN AND ERGONOMICS
Applications and Configurations of a One-Chip DLp projection system
Rear projection cubes for 24-hour operation, televisions, home theatre systems, and business projectors using DLP technology rely on a single-chip configuration as described above (Figure 4.31).
White light passes through a colour wheel filter causing red, green, and blue light to be shone in sequence on the surface of the DLP chip. The switching of the mirrors and the proportion of time they are ‘on’ or ‘off’ is coordinated according to the colour shining on them. The human visual system integrates the sequential colour and perceives a full-colour image. DLP cubes are available in various resolutions: SVGA, XGA, SXGA, SXGA+, and HDTV. Sizes range from 50 to 100 inches.
Extreme reliability, perfect image quality, and long-term stability have enabled DLP - based rear projection cubes to become state-of-the-art in control room applications.
4.5.10.2 advantages of DLp Technology
• High mean time between failures (MTBF) of the DMD chip, up to
100,0 hours.
• Long-term stability and reliability.
• Excellent picture quality (colour, brightness, and contrast).
• Low maintenance interventions, requires few readjustments.
• No burn-in or image retention of static pictures.
• Digital technology.
• The lamp has a long life.
