WATCH: Bride Sews Baby Into Her Wedding Gown
I’ve been to quite a few weddings where the happy couple incorporated their children into their big day.
A beaming flower girl there, a bashful ring bearer there; even one proud dad who carried his screaming, teething baby down the aisle was still adorable. This bride took the cake, no pun intended, for what is quite possibly the worst way to involve your children in your wedding —when she chose to sew her baby into her wedding dress. Yes, you read that right. Earlier this year, Shona Carter-Brook, a Tennessee woman desperately wanted to include her one-month-old newborn daughter in her big day — and thought that nestling her among the ruffles of her wedding train and dragging her down the aisle with her was an inspired idea. When I first heard about this story, I thought it was a joke, but it’s indeed very real, and what’s even more puzzling is how fervently the bride and wedding planner defended their actions. “This action has significant historical value and indicates the dedication of her mother (and father) toward caring for her child and family,” the wedding planner wrote. A GOOD mother takes her child wherever she goes, even down the aisle.”
Um, OK, then. But other than that, there are many meaningful ways to involve your baby or older children in a wedding…
…that don’t involve dragging them down the aisle behind you. MORE BY CHAUNIE:
